On Sunday 11th September our YOUNG ATHLETES embarked on the first road relay of the winter season, the MIDDLESEX ROAD RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS , which took place at the Minit Centre, Hayes. Normally the Hertfordshire championships are held in conjuction, but this year they are being run at the Southern Road Relays. Therefore a number of our Hertfordshire athletes were allowed to run as non-scoring.

Under 11 Boys (1500m) was won by JAMIE HARPER in 5.20. Non-scorer was NATHAN FERNANDOS who was 4th in 5.37.
Under 13 Boys team (3 x 3000m) won by almost a minute, finishing in 34.55, JAMES BRENNAN ran 11.08, second fastest leg, FELIX BORDET-STEAD ran 11.50, and DOMINIC THOMPSON ran 11.57.

Non-scorer was WILL STUBBS who ran 10.56, which was the fastest leg of the race by 8 seconds, and DANIEL WILSON ran 13.58.

Under 15 Boys team (3 x 3000m) won by 7 seconds, finishing in 32.44, leg 1 was ALEX ABADESSO won ran 10.28, JOBE DAVIES ran 12.14, and JOSEPH BRENNAN running 10.02 on the third leg, for the fastest leg of the race. Non-scorer was ADAM THORPE who ran 9.57 which was the fastest leg of the race by 5 seconds

Under 15 Girls team (3 x 3000m) showed the boys they could win too, and won by over 2 minutes, finishing in 37.06, leg 1 was CHLOE GOODSON who ran 12.16, for 2nd fastest leg, EMMA DWAN ran 12.49, and SOPHIA PARVIZI-WAYNE running 12.01 on the third leg, for the fastest leg of the race.

Under 17 Men (3 x 3000m) SAM WILSON was our lone runner, who finished with 9.38, 2nd fastest leg.

Non-scorers were RORY COX in 9.56, JOE REDWOOD in 9.54, KYLE LANGFORD in 10.40, ASHOK MATHUR in 10.48, and JAMES SOUTHCOTT in11.06.

Under 17 Women (3 x 3000m) FREYA LENTON was our lone runner, who finished with 11.27.

At the WATFORD OPEN on 7th September, MATTHEW MCLAUGHLIN U17 again produced another dominating performance, he opened this season with 2:02:80, and in this race improved his PB again to record 1:51:06, which is a new U17 club record. Matthew is ranked No.1 UK U17 in 2011 for the 800m, this time also puts him No.11 on the all-time UK rankings.
NIALL FLEMING U20 in the 1500m “B” race ran a SB 3:54:21 to finish 2nd, MELISSA COURTNEY U20 finished 4th in the 1500m “A” race in 4:36:85

Other Track & Field Results

Allied Air Forces Championships , Heusden, Belgium : 11/09 STUART BENSON 100m was 2nd in 10.87w, and won the 200m in 22.04w.

Bournemouth AC Open : 11/09 LEE DORAN 6kg Shot was 2nd with 10.23m, 1.75kg Discus was 2nd with 35.60m.

Commonwealth Youth Games, Isle of Man : 09/09 to 11/09 NICHOLAS PERCY U17 1.5kg Discus won the silver medal with a PB 62.96m, for a new UK U17 record . The next day, in the 5kg Hammer he took the bronze medal with 64.96m.

Nevada Twilight 4k , Reno, USA : 10/09 LUCY YATES finished 13th in 15.48.
